Tips & Tricks (5)
- Uniform Cutting for Even Cooking 🔪Cut sweet potatoes into fries of consistent thickness (about ¼-inch) to ensure they all caramelize and crisp simultaneously, preventing some from burning while others remain soft.
- Pat Dry for Maximum Crispiness 💧After cutting, pat the sweet potato fries completely dry with paper towels before seasoning—this removes surface moisture that prevents browning and caramelization in the oven.
- Season Before Cooking for Flavor Infusion 🧂Mix all dry seasonings together and toss with fries 10-15 minutes before baking; this allows the spices to adhere better and flavors to penetrate the potatoes more deeply.
- Single-Layer Arrangement on Hot Pan 🍟Arrange fries in a single layer on a preheated baking sheet and avoid crowding; this promotes air circulation and direct heat contact for optimal caramelization on all sides.
- Finish with Fresh Scallions Post-Baking 🌱Add the fresh scallions immediately after removing fries from the oven while they're still hot; the residual heat will slightly wilt them and release their bright, oniony flavors without cooking away their texture.
