Instructions
1
Slice your fresh ginger into quarter-inch thick discs. Use a vegetable peeler to remove a long segment of lemon peel (for the mildest flavor) or use a sharp knife to slice a piece of lemon.
2
Place the sliced ginger root, lemon peel, or segment and honey into a mug or whatever you're going to steep the tea. Pour the hot water over all the ingredients and let steep for four minutes before drinking.
3
Once the tea you have steeped for four minutes, you can choose whether or not you want to remove the ginger and lemon or keep it in the beverage and just sit around them.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Ginger Slice Thickness Matters 🔪Cut ginger into thin slices (¼ inch) rather than chunks to maximize surface area and infuse more flavor and beneficial compounds into the tea within 5-10 minutes.
- Don't Skip the Simmer Step 🫖After pouring boiling water, let the ginger simmer for 5-10 minutes before adding lemon and honey to fully extract its warming properties and intense flavor.
- Warm Your Cup First 🥤Pre-warm your mug or glass with hot water before pouring the tea to maintain optimal temperature and enhance the soothing experience.
- Add Honey After Cooling Slightly 🍯Wait until the tea cools to about 120°F before adding honey to preserve its enzymes and healing properties, which are destroyed by excessive heat.
- Freshly Squeezed Lemon is Essential 🍋Use freshly squeezed lemon juice rather than bottled to maximize vitamin C content and bright acidity that balances the spicy warmth of ginger.
