Tips & Tricks (5)
- Bloom Your Spices in Molasses 🌟Whisk your ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice directly into the molasses before mixing with wet ingredients to fully activate and deepen their warm flavors.
- Toast Walnuts for Maximum Crunch 🥜Lightly toast your chopped walnuts in a dry skillet for 3-4 minutes before adding them to enhance their nutty flavor and prevent them from becoming soggy during baking.
- Use Room Temperature Ingredients 🌡️Bring your milk and eggs to room temperature before mixing to ensure a smooth batter and even cooking throughout the baked oatmeal without dense pockets.
- Don't Overmix After Adding Oats ⏱️Fold in the Quaker Old Fashioned Oats gently at the end and stir just until combined to maintain texture; overmixing develops gluten and creates a dense, gluey result.
- Test Doneness with the Toothpick Method 🍴Insert a toothpick into the center of the oatmeal—it should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs, not wet batter, indicating perfectly set texture.
