Instructions
1
First, add the gluten free flour and tapioca flour to a large Ziplock bag. Set aside.
2
Add the whisked egg to a shallow bowl. Add each piece of chicken to the egg mixture. Stir to fully coat. Then place inside the Ziplock bag with the flour mixture. Repeat for the remaining chicken pieces.
3
Seal the bag. Shake around until the chicken is all completely coated.
4
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Discard any excess flour. Carefully place the coated chicken cubes in the hot oil. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, until cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
5
Then, add the remaining ingredients to the skillet. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
6
Lastly, remove the skillet from the heat. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Double-Dredge Technique for Crispiness 🍗Dip chicken in egg, coat with gluten-free flour, then dip in egg again before a second flour coating to create an extra-crispy exterior that rivals traditional takeout.
- Fresh Orange Zest for Maximum Flavor 🍊Reserve fresh orange zest before juicing and add it to the sauce at the very end to brighten the dish with intense citrus notes that don't get lost during cooking.
- Cornstarch Slurry for Silky Sauce 🥢Mix cornstarch or tapioca flour with a small amount of cold water before adding to the sauce to prevent lumps and achieve a glossy, restaurant-quality coating that clings perfectly to the chicken.
- Pan Temperature Control for Even Cooking ⏱️Let your chicken pieces come to room temperature and ensure oil reaches 350°F before frying—this creates a golden crust in 3-4 minutes per side while keeping interiors juicy and avoiding greasy results.
- Finishing Garnish for Texture Contrast 💚Slice green onions and sprinkle them over the finished dish just before serving to add a fresh, peppery crunch that contrasts beautifully with the tender chicken and glossy sauce.
