Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Bread Selection Secrets 🍞
Use day-old challah that's slightly stale, as it absorbs the custard mixture better without becoming mushy, creating the perfect texture for your French toast casserole.
  • Blueberry Distribution Magic 🫐
Gently fold blueberries into the casserole just before baking, and lightly dust them with a bit of flour to prevent sinking and ensure even distribution throughout the dish.
  • Lemon Zest Intensity Hack 🍋
Microplane your lemon zest directly into the egg mixture to release the essential oils and maximize the bright, citrusy flavor throughout the entire casserole.
  • Overnight Prep Perfection 🌙
Assemble the casserole the night before and refrigerate, allowing the bread to fully absorb the custard and intensify the flavor profile for a more delicious brunch dish.
  • Golden Brown Topping Trick 🌞
If the top isn't browning evenly, cover loosely with foil for the first 20 minutes of baking, then remove to allow the surface to achieve a perfect golden-brown color.
