Instructions
1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2
Place a sheet of parchment paper on a work surface. Unravel a puff pastry sheet and place on top. Spread on the chocolate spread all the way to the edges and corners. Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and lightly press together.
3
Use a pizza cutter to cut into 1-inch strips, parallel to the shorter edges of the puff pastry. Place in the fridge for 20-30 minutes to firm up.
4
Once chilled, use your hands to fold each strip accordion style, starting wide at the bottom to narrow at the top. Save one strip for the stars. Carefully place the folded trees onto the prepared baking sheet and poke skewers through the centers, sticking out the top a little, where the stars will go.
5
With the remaining puff pastry strip, use a small star cookie cutter to cut out stars. Gently press onto the top of the skewers on the smaller ends of the trees.
6
Bake for 25-30 minutes, until lightly golden brown and puffy.
7
Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Chill Puff Pastry Between Steps ❄️Keep your puff pastry cold in the refrigerator between cutting and baking to ensure maximum flakiness and prevent the chocolate hazelnut spread from melting prematurely.
- Use Parchment Paper for Easy Release 📄Line your baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow the delicate pastry trees to release cleanly without breaking or tearing.
- Seal Edges with Water or Egg Wash 💧Brush the pastry edges with water or beaten egg before folding and baking to create a proper seal that keeps the chocolate hazelnut spread contained inside for even distribution.
- Dust Powdered Sugar at the Perfect Time ✨Apply powdered sugar immediately after the pastries cool for 2-3 minutes—this timing allows it to adhere slightly while still creating a beautiful, pristine finish that won't melt into the warm pastry.
- Monitor Oven Temperature with an Oven Thermometer 🌡️Use an oven thermometer to verify your oven maintains consistent heat at 400°F, ensuring even golden-brown puffing and preventing burnt edges or undercooked centers.
