Instructions
1
|
Prepare and cook boxed cake mix according to package directions.
2
|
Meanwhile, prepare chocolate pudding mix according to package directions. Stir 1/2 cup peanut butter into the pudding mix. Set aside.
3
|
Place remaining peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 20 seconds. Stir well.
4
|
Place chocolate frosting in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 20 seconds. Stir well.
5
|
Once cake is removed from oven, use the end of a wooden spoon or chopstick to poke holes all over the top of the cake – trying not to go through the whole thickness of the cake.
6
|
Drizzle the melted chocolate frosting and peanut butter all over the cake, then pour over the chocolate-peanut butter pudding.
7
|
Smooth the pudding into an even layer using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon.
8
|
Place cake in the fridge to cool slightly, then top with the Cool Whip, smoothing down in an even layer.
9
|
Garnish with any remaining melted peanut butter and frosting, along with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces.
10
|
Allow melted peanut butter and frosting to set before slicing and serving.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pudding Penetration Technique 💦Use the handle of a wooden spoon to create deep, uniform holes in the cake while it's still warm, ensuring maximum pudding absorption and flavor distribution.
- Candy Crushing Trick 🔨Freeze Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for 10 minutes before chopping to prevent crumbling and create cleaner, more precise cuts for topping.
- Temperature Balance 🌡️Allow the cake to cool slightly before adding pudding, but not completely - warm cake helps the pudding seep into the holes more effectively.
- Layering Luxury 🍰Create a gradient of textures by drizzling melted peanut butter between the cake and whipped topping for an extra decadent mouthfeel.
- Chill for Perfection ❄️Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and achieve the ideal set for clean, beautiful slices.
