Cajun Baked Chicken Wings
Instructions
1
|
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
2
|
Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a roasting rack on top. Cover the rack with another sheet of foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Use a knife to poke holes all over the foil.
3
|
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Place the chicken wings in a gallon-sized zip-top bag. Drizzle the olive oil into the bag. Sprinkle in the salt. Seal the bag and shake to evenly coat the chicken wings.
4
|
In a small bowl, whisk together the spices, sugar, and black pepper. Sprinkle the spice mixture into the zip-top bag. Seal the bag and shake to evenly coat the chicken.
5
|
Arrange the chicken wings on the foil-covered roasting rack.
6
|
Bake the chicken wings on middle rack of oven until browned and crispy, 45-50 minutes.
7
|
Check to see that chicken wings are done. Remove from oven or add time as needed.
8
|
Allow the chicken wings to rest on roasting rack for 3 minutes. Plate and serve immediately.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Spice Blend Mastery 🌶️Toast your dry spices in a hot skillet for 30-60 seconds before mixing to unlock deeper, more complex flavor profiles in your Cajun seasoning.
- Wing Positioning Technique 🍗Use a wire rack on your baking sheet to elevate wings, allowing hot air to circulate completely and ensuring crispy skin on all sides.
- Moisture Management 💧Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels before seasoning to help achieve maximum crispiness and better spice adhesion.
- Cayenne Heat Control 🔥Adjust cayenne pepper quantity based on heat tolerance - start with less and gradually increase to personalize spice level without overwhelming the dish.
- Resting and Coating 🧂Let seasoned wings sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before baking to allow spices to penetrate the meat and ensure more even cooking.
