Tips & Tricks (5)
- Select Similar-Sized Spears 📏Choose asparagus spears of uniform thickness to ensure even cooking—thinner spears cook faster than thick ones, leading to inconsistent texture throughout the pan.
- Dry Your Asparagus Thoroughly 💧Pat asparagus completely dry with paper towels before tossing with oil; excess moisture prevents proper browning and creates steam that softens instead of crisps the vegetables.
- Toast Parmesan Last 🧀Add grated Parmesan cheese only after removing asparagus from the oven so it maintains its texture and doesn't melt into clumps or burn; the residual heat will slightly soften it without compromising quality.
- Use High-Quality Extra-Virgin Olive Oil 🫒Premium extra-virgin olive oil has a lower smoke point but superior flavor; use it generously for roasting at moderate-to-high heat to enhance the asparagus's nutty undertones.
- Snap Off Woody Ends Properly ✂️Bend each asparagus spear gently until it naturally breaks at the tender-to-woody transition point rather than cutting—this preserves maximum tender length and ensures consistent quality in every bite.
