Easy Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
2
Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a roasting rack on top. Cover the rack with another sheet of foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Use a knife to poke holes all over the foil.
3
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Place the chicken wings in a gallon-sized zip-top bag. Sprinkle in the salt and baking powder. Seal the bag and shake to evenly coat the wings.
4
Drizzle the canola oil into the bag. Seal the bag and shake once more to coat the chicken wings in oil.
5
Arrange the chicken wings on the foil-covered roasting rack.
6
Bake the chicken wings on middle rack of oven until browned and crispy, 45-50 minutes.
7
Check to see that chicken wings are done. Remove from oven or add time as needed.
8
Place the melted butter, buffalo sauce, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
9
Transfer the chicken wings to the mixing bowl. Toss to evenly coat wings in sauce.
10
Plate and serve immediately.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- The Baking Powder Secret 🔑Baking powder is the game-changer that creates ultra-crispy skin without deep frying—it raises the pH and promotes browning, so don't skip it or reduce the amount.
- Pat Wings Completely Dry 💧Use paper towels to thoroughly dry the wings before coating; any residual moisture will steam the skin instead of crisping it, sabotaging your texture.
- Use a Wire Rack Setup 🧊Place wings on a wire rack positioned over your baking sheet to allow hot air to circulate underneath, ensuring even crisping on all sides.
- Toss Sauce While Still Hot 🔥Apply your buffalo sauce to the wings within 2-3 minutes of removing them from the oven while they're still hot, so the sauce adheres and caramelizes slightly on the exterior.
- Double-Coat for Extra Crunch 🎯For maximum crispiness, spray the coated wings with nonstick cooking spray before baking, then apply a light second spray halfway through cooking for enhanced browning.
