Tips & Tricks (5)
- Blanch Broccoli First 🥦Pre-blanch broccoli for 2-3 minutes before adding to the casserole to ensure it stays tender and vibrant green, preventing mushy texture from the cream sauce.
- Use Freshly Shredded Cheese 🧀Shred cheddar cheese fresh from the block rather than using pre-shredded for superior melting quality and a smoother, creamier sauce without anti-caking agents.
- Toast the Garlic Powder 🫒Bloom garlic powder in a small pan with butter for 30 seconds before mixing into the casserole to intensify its flavor and eliminate any raw, harsh notes.
- Don't Skip the Broil Finish 🔆After baking, place the casserole under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to create a golden, slightly crispy cheese crust on top for added texture and visual appeal.
- Chill Before Serving ❄️Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after removing from the oven so the cream sauce sets slightly, making it easier to portion and creating a better texture contrast.
