Tips & Tricks (5)
- Line the Pan for Easy Cleanup 📋Use parchment paper or aluminum foil on your baking sheet to catch drippings and prevent the sweet glaze from caramelizing onto the pan, making cleanup effortless.
- Separate Bacon Strips Properly 🥓Arrange bacon strips in a single layer without overlapping to ensure even caramelization of the maple-sugar coating on all sides.
- Watch for the Crispness Sweet Spot ⏱️Remove bacon when the edges are deeply caramelized but the centers still have a slight chew (around 20-25 minutes at 400°F) to achieve the perfect balance between crispy and chewy.
- Toast Spices Before Coating 🌶️Lightly toast your cayenne and black pepper in a dry pan for 30 seconds before mixing with brown sugar and maple syrup to amplify their depth and prevent raw spice flavor.
- Cool on a Wire Rack 🧊Transfer finished bacon to a wire rack instead of a plate to allow air circulation underneath, preventing the bottom from becoming soggy as it cools.
